Said about the book:
We have read Mommy and the Love Child every evening since my twin girls (age 3) received the book last weekend. We start with this book and finish with the teddy bear book. I think my girls are new to this topic since I haven’t previously talked to them about being donor children.
We have talked about the fact that they do not have a dad.
They enjoy looking at the book and often page through it by themselves. I think the book plants some thoughts in them, but they haven’t asked any questions yet. When we read the book I try to relate the content and the drawings to Emma and Sanne.
The best drawing in the book is the one that show the different types of families, where we can see our type and some of the other family types that the girls have experienced in kindergarten like the twins with 2 moms. I am sure that the book has started a chain of thoughts in them, and I am actually looking forward to re-reading the book with them and hearing their questions. It will give me an insight in their thoughts – right now they just think I am silly when I ask them if they have a Dad.
